Transitional housing

In one sentence

Time-limited supported housing designed to help someone move from crisis to a settled home.

Stays usually run from six months to two years, with move-on planning from the first day.

Transitional schemes include young people's foyers, step-down housing for people leaving hospital and move-on flats after a hostel. A scheme where nobody moves on is long-term housing, whatever it is called, and should be planned and funded that way.
